INS Tushil inducted into Navy, commissioned by Rajnath Singh in Russia

Guided missile frigate INS Tushil (F 70) was commissioned into the Indian Navy at Kaliningrad in Russia on Monday, in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
INS Tushil is the Russian-manufactured, seventh multirole stealth frigate in the series of Project 1135.6 and the first of the additional follow-on class ships. It is designed for operations across the spectrum of naval warfare in air, surface, underwater and electromagnetic dimensions.
“The ship is a big proof of the collaborative prowess of Russian and Indian industries. It exemplifies India’s journey towards technological excellence through jointmanship,” Rajnath Singh said, as he commissioned INS Tushil. He said India and Russia will enter a “new era” of cooperation.
The 3,900-tonne ship with a length of 125 metres is armed with a range of advanced weapons, including supersonic cruise missiles, Surface-to-Air Missiles with enhanced ranges, upgraded medium range anti-air and surface guns with advanced stealth features, optically controlled close range rapid fire gun system, anti-submarine torpedoes and rockets and advanced electronic warfare and communication suite.
The ship’s keel was laid in July 2013, and it was launched on water in October 2021.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, senior officials from the Russian Navy and the Indian Ambassador to Russia were also present during the event at Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad.
