Even when opening his business, you can always count on Uncle Roger, whose real name is Nigel Ng to bring a few laughs.
On Wednesday (Sep 11), the 33-year-old comedian opened his very own restaurant, the hilariously named ‘FUIYOH! It’s Uncle Roger’, at the fancy Pavilion KL in Kuala Lumpur.
While others scream about having no MSG in their food, it is refreshing to see Uncle Roger gamely admitting in an interview with a Malaysian website that the flavour enhancer is already present in their dishes.
He even said that diners are allowed to bring their own MSG if they want. “In a few weeks, we will add small bottles of MSG on their dining tables so that everyone can season it themselves.
Seeing as how Uncle Roger brings the flavour enhancer with him everywhere, we can’t say we are too surprised.
In the same interview, he also addressed complaints about his fried rice dish being too expensive.
At ‘FUIYOH! It’s Uncle Roger’, a plate of fried rice costs 18 ringgit (S$5.40).
“How is 18 ringgit expensive? You already pay 12 ringgit (S$3.60) for fried rice at the coffee shop,” he says.
“This is Pavillion, with air-conditioning and all kinds of famous brands downstairs where I can take my girlfriend shopping. Haiyaa, how can it be expensive?” he joked in the interview.
Uncle Roger, imagine those prices in Singapore?
Next up, he is looking to gather his fans to set a new Guinness World Record on September 14, having as many people as possible turn up to the restaurant dressed as… him.
In a video posted online, Uncle Roger says the first 300 people to arrive will get special discount vouchers at his restaurant.
